The Trouble With Templeton Announce New Album "Rookie"
Brisbane’s The Trouble With Templeton announce today the title of their brand new album, Rookie and that it will be hitting stores on August 2 through MGM.
Mid Ayr, the creation of Hugh Middleton of The Trouble With Templeton, has released the film clip for new single Letting You In, which will make you think twice about the emotional capabilities of puppets.
The song itself deals with personal themes of love and coping with loss (or not, as the case would have it) and the downward slope to insanity after losing someone you love. The video adds an extra element and brings the song to life, thanks to some lifeless inanimate objects.
The video, directed and designed by long-time friend Luke Constable, makes you laugh, cry and basically re-evaluate what emotions puppets can make you feel.
The sets and props in the clip are a close representation of lead singer Hugh Middleton’s old house and the things he surrounded himself with, even down to the 1970s acoustic Ibanez guitar.
According to Constable, the clip took three months to film because of the complexities in operating the puppet. In the happier scenes Jen Bismire operated the puppets, while Middleton performed the darker, ugly scenes. The difference in puppeteers for the two moods affected the movements in a way that reflects the change in circumstances and the loneliness of the sole puppet.
Middleton started writing demos for Mid Ayr whilst touring with his previous band, The Trouble With Templeton. The desire was strong with Middleton to start his own project, and would write songs while on the road before recording them in his bedroom studio. Zach Moynihan and Alex L’Estrange soon joined Middleton, with the group hitting it off immediately.
Since then the band has build a reputation for their intense and emotional live shows, and have scored supporting slots alongside acts such as EAST, Avaberee and Auila Young.
Their debut EP is due out in early 2016, and has a few dates in support of My Own Pet Radio ahead. If Mid Ayr keep coming up with tunes like Letting You In they will build their reputation as a band to watch very quickly.
