Soundwave 2014 Lineup Announcement
Soundwave has announced a killer lineup for the 2014 festival including American Punk outfit Greenday along with Avenged Sevenfold, Stone Temple Pilots with Chester Bennington of Link Park,...
In news that will disappoint all who were hoping the rumours were true (this writer included) AJ Maddah has come out and said that the classic ‘Appetite For Destruction’ era line-up of Guns N’ Roses will not be playing Soundwave 2016.
It all started with the news that former guitarist Slash was back on speaking terms with lead singer Axl Rose. In a Swedish TV interview, Slash revealed that the pair were back on friendlier terms after a long overdue reconciliation.
The feud between Slash and Axl has been one of the most talked about falling outs in music after Slash left the band in 1996 after months, even years of hostility between the two while playing in what could only be described as one of the most dysfunctional rock bands in history.
Any talk of the pair being able to hold a civil conversation was bound to start the rumours of a long awaited reunion of one of the most dangerous bands in rock history. In the Swedish TV interview Slash was quick to hose down any talk of a reunion.
The Soundwave rumour seemed to start on radio station Triple M when owner of Melbourne’s Cherry Bar James Young said he had sources who confirmed the Guns N’ Roses reunion.
However Soundwave boss AJ Maddah has finally but the rumour to bed, breaking the hearts of many die hard Guns N’ Roses fans who dared to dream.
In a statement, Maddah admitted it was nice to share the fantasy, but that “it is not happening for SW16”, stating that a reunion of that scope would need more than six months to organise.
But if it were ever to happen, Maddah has tossed his hat in to the ring to do whatever he could to bring the rock titans to Australia.
But until then, I guess this will have to do…
