The final piece of the BIGSOUND puzzle has fallen in to place, with 101 music industry leaders set to share their inside knowledge on the speakers’ stage, as well as cast their eye over the talented showcasing artists playing at Brisbane’s music industry conference.
The panel program will explore the shifting sands of the music industry with topics such as gender equality in music, the role of record stores in 2015, the changes in artist development and the new roles record labels play, safety in Australian music venues and many more as Australian music’s global agenda is set for the coming year from Wednesday 9 to Friday 11 of September.
The final speaker announcement also sees NME’s new music editor Matt Wilkinson and Pitchfork’s Jessica Hopper sitting alongside Brisbane media outlets in one of the strongest contingents of global public influencers in BIGOUND’s history.
New international announcements include BMI’s Brandon Haas (US), Third Side Music’s creative licensing manager Caitlin Veitch (US), Warner Chappell Music’s director of A&R David Goldsen (US) and Believe Digital’s international officer Stephen King (UK).
Artists on the BIGSOUD conference panels include Birds of Tokyo’s Adam Spark, singer/songwriters Emma Donovan and Ben Salter plus many more.
One of the standouts from last year was the closing keynote from Justin Heazlewood, from The Bedroom Philosopher, about surviving as an artist in the music industry. Heazlewood returns this year with his sequel, which is sure to be just as ens on the BIGSOUD conference panels include Birds of Tokyo’s Adam Spark, singer/songwriters Emma Donovan and Ben Salter plus many more.
BIGSOUND has long been the breeding ground for some of the biggest Australian acts of the last decade, with national and international industry leaders and music fans alike converging on Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley to catch a glimpse of the next big thing. BIGSOUND alumni include some of the biggest names in the scene right now, such as Courtney Barnett, Flume, Seth Sentry, Sheppard, The Jezabels, The Temper Trap, Kingswood plus many, many more.
If you haven’t already heard, some of this year’s live acts include Stonefield, Muscles, Gang of Youths, Holy Holy, Katy Steele and heaps more.
