Backbone 2High Festival 2016 Applications Now Open

Consider this the official roll call for all artists, scientists and critical thinkers of Brisbane for the 2016 Backbone 2high Festival of Art, Science and Ideas – Vital Signs.

Applications have opened for the festival have officially been opened so get in quick because they are only opened until August 30, 2015.

The team at Backbone 2High Festival have put on their thinking caps in the last few months to develop a program for 2016 that features four key multi-artforms: music, feminism, science and performance.

Backbone has become an unofficial training ground for various fields such as festival workers, artists, administrators and industry leaders since it began in 1994. It was created to the ever-changing needs the industry brings in order to teach people today what tomorrow brings.

Executive producer at Backbone Youth Arts, Katherine Quigley spoke about the festival “What I love about this project, is that the festival responds to the young people making it - each year the program shifts depending on who is on the festival team.”

“We have a team this year that includes a scientist - already that has changed our understanding of science, and we are interested in how that will shape and influence the entire festival.”

It is no secret that the younger generations of today always have something to say on important topics in society, so if you think you match the criteria above than take advantage of this opportunity because now you have a platform to be heard.

Dates and venue for the festival can be found below. Applications are open and can be found on the Backbone 2High Festival website www.2highfestival.com.au
