Soundwave 2014 Third Lineup Announcement is About to Drop
After months of finger nailing biting anticipation, the long awaited third lineup announcement for Soundwave 2014 is going to drop…. tomorrow! *Insert cheering here.*
There’s a lot being said about Apple’s new music streaming service Tidal. Jay-Z and Jack White have joined forces to bring the latest in fluro aqua music services. But is it any good?
Despite being backed by two major acts, along with other all-star acts, the service has received its fair share of flack. Many reported its release as a flop, and Jay-Z along with White and other artists reportedly began calling Tidal users to thank them for using the service, which looked like a desperate attempt to keep the app afloat.
Take a look at what people are saying about Tidal:
Death Cab For Cutie’s front man Ben Gibbard spoke bluntly about the service, saying it was going to, “fail miserably”. He claimed that Tidal was favouring musicians who were already successful, giving little mind to smaller bands and artists.
Mumford and Sons’ Marcus Mumford said their band, “wouldn’t have joined it anyway, even if they had asked”. Mumford also chimed in about the service favouring successful artists, saying “I think smaller bands should get paid more for it…Bigger bands have other ways of making money, so I don’t think you can complain.” Guitarist Winston Marshall then called the A-list artists on the service “new school fucking plutocrats”.
Recently Slipknot front man Corey Taylor was asked if they would consider getting behind the venture: “Of course not, because they can’t use our music to sell anything,” he said. “That’s fine with me, you know, I don’t give a shit, let the fucking Taylor Shits and One Erections sell their fucking sodas and edible panties, I don’t give a shit about any of that.”
On top of all this, the app has also received harsh reviews from users, such as, “Tidal app is ugly”, “For the record, Tidal sucks. Don’t download it”, “Tidal costs too much: Even the free trial I received felt like a ripoff”.
It’s even spawned its own parody Twitter account, @fakeTIDALfacts, with gems like “You can hear Action Bronson sweating with Tidal’s Hi-Fi audio” and “Tidal’s Hi-Fi audio is so clear, that you can hear Drake swiping right on Tinder during the entirety of Nothing Was The Same.”
The claws are most certainly out, but only time will tell if Tidal can rise above the #haters.

It’s been well documented that all actors want to be musicians and all musicians want to be actors. Very few people achieve the God like title of Actor/Musician (we’re looking at you Jared Leto)...
Jack White is no stranger when it comes to big collaborations. Having collaborated with the likes of Neil Young, Alicia Keys, The Rolling Stones and Loretta Lynn, it comes as a bit of a surprise...
