Brace yourself to be hypnotized and taken down a psychedelic 3D rabbit hole as Tame Impala release their official video for ‘Cause I’m A Man’, off their highly anticipated album Currents.
The video, inspired by the CG artwork taken from their 3rd LP, and well actually, most of their singles including Let it Happen, Eventually and Disciples stays true to Tame Impalas mind-altering sound and imagery with a 3D dreamlike simulation, adding visuals to the ethereal laser-beam melodied track. The clip features a constantly rotating camera that travels through a 3D world. The two characters heads transform and morph from disco balls, to flowers, to bowler hats & fire; you realize they’re moving through the stages of a relationship, emanating the lyrics.
In an interview with Kevin Parker who wrote, performed, produced and mixed all the tracks on the Currents album (Cause HE’S the man) explains the lyrics: “The song is about how weak men are, and really, we’re just odorous male members of the animal kingdom. It’s meant to be sassy and tongue-in-cheek, kind of sexy”
