2013 Aria Awards: Flume Picks Up Four Gongs
Flume has swept the 2013 ARIAs with awards in four categories Best Male Artist, Best Dance Album, Producer of the Year and Breakthrough Artist Release.
Figures released this week by Spotify to celebrate their two year anniversary in Australia reveal our love for home grown artists. Rather than seeing global pop powerhouses (Coldplay, Avicii, Beyoncé) at the top of the most streamed list, sits 22 year old Harley Streten aka Flume, who produced his first album in his bedroom whilst living in his parents’ house.
His debut self titled album took out the Most Listened to Artist, and also topped the Top 5 Most Streamed Albums List. Harley also went home with four Aria awards this year. It’s no secret that us Aussie’s love an underdog.
And that’s not all! Vance Joy (another Aussie favourite) took out Most Streamed track with Riptide and along with Matt Corby, Bliss N Eso and the Temper Trap rounded out the top 5 Local Artists.
The Top 10 List in full:
1. Flume

3. Eminem
4. Avicii
5. Daft Punk
6. Calvin Harris
7. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis

With the intent of finding and awarding upcoming local acts, Spotify have launched their latest Emerge program in Australia and New Zealand.
In their quest to be ultimate masters and overlords of the universe, there are reports that Apple are to launch a Spotify rival music streaming service.
