Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds Contenders For Prestigious Ivor Novello Award

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds have joined the likes of the Arctic Monkeys, Laura Myula, London Grammar, Passenger and Emeli Sande as contenders in this year’s prestigious Ivor Novello award.

The Ivor Novello Awards, presented annually in London since 1995, are one of the most respected awards for song writing and composition. Awards are presented for Best Song Musically and Lyrically, Best Contemporary Song, PRS for Music Most Performed Work, Album Award, Best Original Film Score, and Best Television Soundtrack. The Ivor Novello awards remain the only award ceremony in the musical calendar that is not influenced by publishers and record companies, instead judged and presented by the writing community.

The Australian band Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds’ album Push The Sky Away is up for the best album gong. This is the first Best Album nomination for the industry legends who have also made the shortlist for for the APRA Song of the Year award for their song Jubilee Street from the acclaimed 2013 album.

The 59th Ivor Novello Awards will take place in London on May 22. The APRA awards will be held at Brisbane Town Hall on June 23.
