PPCA and Australia Council have announced Courtney Barnett, Ben Salter, Lance Ferguson,The Grigoryan Brothers and Ainslie Wills as the recipients of $15 000 grants, to be used to cover recording costs.
Dan Rosen, CEO of PPCA stated, “We were extremely pleased by the range and number of applicants under the program. We look forward to hearing the recordings that emerge as a result of this funding and will all of the recipients the very best over the course of their recording careers.” Australia Council Chief Executive Officer Mr. Tony Grybowski agreed with Rosen’s sentiments, adding that the strong response to the initiative was a fantastic indication of the “quality and ambition” of Australian recording artists.
Courney Barnett plans to use the grant to record her debut full-length album, whilst songwriters Ben Salter and Ainslie Wills aim to record their sophomore efforts. Lance Ferguson of The Bamboos will put the money towards a new album for Lanu, his collaboration with Megan Washington, and The Grigoryan Brothers will record an LP featuring their own compositions, as well as those of writers Nigel Westlake, Shaun Rigney and Stuart Greenbaum.
