StormChasers are a 7-piece Funk/Soul band from Brisbane, Australia. They are a proudly independent band, they've got an awesome manager, they've got a distribution deal with MGM, and they are preparing for the release of their next EP.
So far, they have had some success with the first single from the EP, 'Someone Else' (see below for a free download). It spent 4 weeks in the top 10 of the Airit charts and was added to spot rotation on Triple J. They have done tours with The Beards, Kim Churchill, The Good Ship and Samuel Cole and The Mornings and are about to play at Caloundra Music Festival alongside Xavier Rudd, Blue King Brown and more.
The Stormies have finished the recording for this record. The recording process has been great, and we've worked with some awesome musicians and producers to get the job done. Peter G (Golden Sound) and Paulie B (The Beautiful Girls, George) have produced 3 of 5 songs from the EP. Stormies' drummer Beau has produced the other two. So they've got the songs recorded... what next?
Well, that's the problem you see - they've spent all of their savings on having the songs recorded, and they haven't got the money to get this release across the line. What's the plan, you ask?
Glad you asked. The Stormies are crowdfunding through Pozible! Below is a very straight forward break down of the costs for this release - should punters choose to pledge towards the campaign, this is where all moneys will be spent
The Pozible campaign they have launched is asking for $6500 and the money raised will cover their costs for Production and release of their new release on Vinyl. It features all the usual rewards like live shows at Pledgers' houses, T-shirts and Merchandise and downloads/copies of the record, of course, but also rewards such as a video of Kat (Vocals) licking her elbow, Jane asking your crush out on a date, Alex being a town crier for you, the band taking you shopping and being your style gurus or being your chauffeur or removalist for the day.
The Stormies are big believers in supporting local music scene and industry, and so everything we’re doing (other than vinyl pressing) will be sourced from local Brisbane artists, artisans and businesses. Vinyl pressing will be done offshore, in either USA or France – this is because Australia has only one vinyl pressing plant on its soil, and it works out to be much more cost effective to press and ship the records from overseas.
Throughout this campaign, the StormChasers crew will be keeping punters updated with as much info as possible. It is their mission to be as transparent as possible to assure you that pledgers' money is going to all of the right places. They will be revealing the names of the secret remix producers over the coming months, as well as a few sneak previews of their remixes
The Release is due in early 2014, with a single to be release in late September with an East Coast tour to follow.
