THE RUBENS sign to Warner Bros. USA + self titled album & 'My Gun' single certified gold
Ivy League is excited to announce that pen has been put to paper and The Rubens have signed a deal with Warner Bros. Records for a worldwide release (excluding AUS & NZ) of their debut self-titled album this June! The band caught the attention of U.S label types with talk of David Kahne (Paul McCartney, Regina Spektor, The Strokes) producing an album for a little known Aussie band already selling out tours and with a speedily growing fan base that all started with ‘Lay It Down’ going gangbusters on Triple J Unearthed. Talk soon turned serious thanks to a triple J Feature Album nod, #3 ARIA and #1 iTunes chart debuts. Joining likes of Muse, Flaming Lips, R.E.M and band favourites The Black Keys, signing to Warner Bros. means they’re in good company.
It’s pretty safe to say that 2012 was a dream year for The Rubens. Now 2013 is off to a cracking start with the news of their debut self-titled album and single ‘My Gun’ going GOLD! This huge milestone is testament to the lads’ hard work and exceptional support from their amazing fans. Front man, Sam Margin, had this to say of the accomplishment, “Thanks to everyone who bothered to buy the record rather than download it for free! It's rare, and bloody appreciated!”. True that, Sam.
In a short year the lives of these 3 young brothers (Sam, Elliot, Zaac) and best mate (Scott), have gone from demoing in bedrooms to playing three sold out headline tours and landing on the bill for festivals such as the upcoming St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival. On top of this, The Rubens have supported some of their favourite musicians such as The Black Keys, The Vaccines and recently announced as the support to Bruce Springsteen at his March Hanging Rock shows. With over 80 shows under their belt since April last year and loving every minute of it, The Rubens have no intention of slowing down.
Soon to make their worldwide debut this February/March with back-to-back shows throughout Europe and the U.K then onto New York, L.A and SXSW, we can’t wait to see what this year holds for THE RUBENS!
