The xx album 'Coexist' hits Gold sales in Australia
Coexist, the brilliant sophomore album from Mercury Music Prize nominated trio The xx, has hit Gold sales in Australia.
Coexist is the follow-up album to The xx's debut xx, which also achieved Gold sales in Australia. The album went on to achieve platinum sales in the UK and accumulated over 1.3 million sales worldwide.
Released in September 2012 via Young Turks / Remote Control, Coexist one of the most eagerly-awaited releases of 2012, impressively debuting at number two on the ARIA charts with similar chart-topping results around the globe.
The xx – Oliver Sim, Romy Madley Croft and Jamie Smith (Jamie xx) – formed in 2005 at London’s Elliot School, the alma mater of notable alumni Hot Chip, Burial and Four Tet, and bonded over a shared love of dark, emotive 80s guitar sounds and the high-end sheen of American R&B.
The xx have quickly become one of the most in demand acts on the planet, and they’re bringing their incredibly atmospheric and captivating live show back to Australia this April. With shows in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth selling out and second shows in Sydney and Melbourne already announced, The xx are a band not to miss in 2013.
