Gig Guide: Black Bear Lodge’s 4th Birthday Party

Fortitude Valley’s beloved little venue Black Bear Lodge is celebrating their fourth birthday this August 29 and they have announced quite a line-up for the party.

Black Bear have promised everything a fourth birthday should have, from lolly bags, lots and lots of cake, and alcoholic spiders. They’ve also told everyone to come dressed up as big kids. Sounds like our kind of party!

Tickets are on sale HERE

Here's a look at the killer line-up:

Hey Geronimo

Brisbane locals Hey Geronimo popped up in 2012 and have developed into one of the country’s most innovative purveyors of warped, indie-pop. After a pair of well received EPs, Hey Geronimo (2012) and Erring On The Side Of Awesome (2013), the band will release their debut LP in 2015.

WAAX

This punk-infused rock outfit gives a killer performance and with their latest hit ‘I For An Eye’ under their belt, we’re sure they are going to tear the roof down (metaphorically). Brisbane’s WAAX have promised there is more to come in 2015, including the release of their debut EP. Catch them rocking to stage at Black Bear.

Born Joy Dead

With the ability to write hard driven, agile and refined rock, Brisbane’s Born Joy Dead are fast becoming an outfit to be counted. With the release of their debut EP comes their most ambitious single yet, ‘Stones in My Shoe,’ showcasing the quartet’s aptitude for sophisticated and dreamy pop.

Machine Age

After spending two weeks in bed recovering from knee surgery with only a laptop, guitar and dog named Tux to keep him company; producer Adrian Mauro began to chop up and rearrange his own demo recordings. As a result Machine Age was born. Catch his one-man show at Black Bear (minus the dog).

Denpasar

Denpasar is a recording project fronted by songwriters Ben Fahey and Alex Le’Strange. On the back of two successful singles ‘Radar’ and ‘Don’t know Why’, the group has been extended to a full band for a run of live performances. This will be the last of a successful stint of shows at Black Bear Lodge in 2015.
