May Gig Guide

Sorry what? Did you say May? No it can't be M...oh god...it's almost May! You're New Years' resolutions have surely ended by now, but don't worry, Brisbane has quite a fair amount of hot gigs blasting round the joint. Whether you're into rock, soft smooth acoustic or you're a festival nut, May looks like it'll pack a punch.

Andy Bull - Brightside - 02.05.2015

The silky smooth swooner himself is back on the beaten track again supporting his Talk Too Much tour. Andy and that gender defying voice of his have just gotten off slamming Laneway in January and is ready to share his debut album with you. As a bonus all of his shows are supported by Brissie legends Cub Sport who are coming back to light up our lives after just far too long away.

Alt-J - Riverstage - 08.05.2015

Are you one of those people that was sighing real hard after missing out on the British quintet at Falls over New Years? The sigh real hard no more! because…oh, wait, its sold out? Well all those people that are lucky enough to have tickets will enjoy tracks off their latest album This Is All Yours.  People who don’t have tickets, I dunno, if you stand close enough to Riverstage you might be able to get a small earful of the legends.

Courtney Barnett - The Hi-Fi - 09.05.2015

She rocked SXSW, played on Ellen and Jimmy Fallon and she’s dropped on of the hottest albums so far this year. She’s made an impression on the world and she’s returning home for a quick album tour. Her dead pan mastery of songwriting is smashed together with a rock goddess heavy sound. Splicing together sass and raw musical talent, her live shows are a spectacle and isn’t something to be missed.

San Cisco - The Triffid - 16.05.2015

Indie pop four piece have dropped an album and jumped on tour. Australia is finally getting another taste of their infectious pop melodies and catchy tunes. Their live shows are notorious for mixing things up, experimenting with their tunes and putting on a show that you can’t help but bounce along to.

Backstreet Boys - Brisbane Entertainment Centre - 20.05.2015

Backstreet’s back ALRIGHT! Nineties heartthrobs are returning for a tour and if you’re ready to see an arena filled with 25-30 year old women screaming then boy do we have a show for you. Nostalgia is strong in this and even we are a tiny bit excited for what will be a spectacle of a show.

Hot Dub Time Machine - The Hi-Fi - 23.05.2015

You better start pre drinking now guys because this will be one of the biggest all round raves of the year. Only one show in Brisbane, doing a little stint after the Groovin’ the Moo, chances are limited to loose your nut to some hella dope beats and mixes.

Ben Howard

Ben Howard - The Tivoli - 28.05.2015

After dropping from the Bluesfest, Ben Howard is making it up to y’all. The slickly smooth acoustic rhythms were just too much to miss out on so he’s doing a few shows around our fair nation. The British wonder is going to work his magic on the fretboard and pull out some really special soulful stuff, he has our hearts and we know he’ll prove it.

Lurch & Chief - The Brightside - 29.05.2015

Sheesh, these guys have just been popping up all over the place and Brisbane, you’re gonna get your chance to see what all the fuss is about. Dropping an absolutely sublime debut EP that features their indie rock punch that has caught us by surprise, but in all right right ways. It’s your time to shine Lurnch & Chief and show exactly why you’re tipped to be the next big thing.

Big Pineapple Festival - Sunshine Coast - 30.05.2015

Alright Nambour, it's your time to shine! Bringing together some hot acts from all over the joint, the Big Pineapple Festival is definitely one of the most anticipated events of May (and our lives ammiright?). John Butler Trio, Thundamentals, Violent Soho and The Beligerants to name a few. We are super keen are you?
