The one and only legend that is Tom Jones has announced that he will be heading down under for an exclusive show at Melbourne’s Forum Theatre with special guest Lanie Lane, and ‘it’s not unusual’ to be pretty excited about it!
Multi-million selling singer and legendary artist Tom Jones is coming to Melbourne for an exclusive show at the Forum Theatre on Wednesday 24th September, ahead of his AFL Grand Final appearance on Saturday.
The Welsh born superstar will be presenting a selection of songs that include iconic hits as well as tracks from his critically acclaimed albums ‘Spirit In The Room’ and Praise & Blame’.
Tom’s career has gone from strength to strength, with his popularity and growth as a live performer and recording artist sustained for half a century. Although he is well known for hits including ‘It’s Not Unusual’, ‘Kiss’, ‘Delilah’ and ‘If I Only Knew’, he is first and foremost a rocker with a true rhythm and blues soul.
2010 saw the release of Tom’s 39th studio album, Praise & Blame, which achieved a career- pinnacle of critical acclaim as well as impressive international sales. The album of spiritually-themed American repertoire was recorded as wholly live performances with multi-award winning producer/player Ethan Johns.
Following the success of Praise & Blame, Tom released Spirit In The Room’ in May 2012. Like it’s predecessor, the collection is a collaboration with Ethan, allowing an unvarnished Tom Jones to bring a voice to songs as only he can.
His 40-year career has seen highlights including receiving BRIT Awards for Outstanding Contribution to Music, a Silver Clef Award for Lifetime Achievement, the Hitmaker Award from the US Songwriters Hall of Fame, and a knighthood from Her Majesty the Queen in 2006 for Services To Music. Opening this special evening will be local songstress Lanie Lane who releases her new album, Night Shade, on 24th October through Ivy League.
Tom Jones will be performing pre-game at the 2014 AFL Grand Final, and along with Ed Sheeran, will also perform in a special post game celebration that is free for anybody to attend – even those that don’t hold Grand Final tickets. Entry is via Gates 4, 5 & 6 from 6pm.
