LAURA (band) New Album and Upcoming Shows
For anyone who ever thought that making good music was a lost art, LAURA compels you to think again. On October 14 the Melbourne five piece release their long-awaited third album, TWELVE HUNDRED TIMES.
Of the new album, LAURA’s Andrew Yardley says ”’Cutting the fat’ - was the mantra applied to every aspect of creating TWELVE HUNDRED TIMES. Focused and obsessed, we were brutal in refining every note of every song. Songs and sounds became territorial, aggressively fighting for space. The weak were cut or cannibalised. Emotion was a scarce treat, allowed in small potions but neurotic self-restraint ensured it didn't weaken our vision. Any reward songs gave us along the way was immediately ploughed back into the earth. TWELVE HUNDRED TIMES is lean and sharp as planned but is ultimately more sentimental then we envisioned.”

Roscoe James Irwin releases 'The Hunting Road' with shows in Sydney & Melbourne
Roscoe James Irwin has stepped down from his iconic status as a bandleader and large-scale composer for seminal Australian bands The Cat Empire and The Bamboos, to bring you a colorful and wide ranging, debut solo record ‘The Hunting Road’ that is simple, thoughtful, and beautiful. No brass or string sections, no jungle breaks or percussion, just simple folky pop songs and beautiful lyrical storytelling.
‘The Hunting Road’ boasts many different influences from touring overseas with the likes of Belle & Sebastian and hanging out with Brian and May and Roger Taylor or Queen, but this is really a record that came out of raw emotion and honesty when Roscoe escaped to British Columbia with his acoustic guitar.
