Australia Loses One Of Its Most Loved Festivals

And just like that, Australia's festival line up is down one. The Mushroom Group has announced that 2016 will not hold a Future Music Festival, where will the ravers go now?

2015's Future Music Festival went off the hizzay, smashing everything out of the park. With a lineup that dropped the likes of Drake, Avicii, The Prodigy and Hilltop Hoods into our cities and our hearts, this year's raver central garnered critical acclaim, but unfortunately that will be it. Going out with a bang we guess?

The underwhelming amount of ticket sales over the past two years is to blame for the idea to cut the festival, so the blame can only be put on you guys. IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT. (Sorry, we use aggression to hide our sadness)

Don't fret though, the other Mushroom Group music festivals won't be affected. Good Life, boutique music festival Sugar Mountains and the whole Frontier Touring group is still all business as usual and there's also talks for a new music festival to take it's place. The Group has announced that there are plans to fill in the black space in the festival calendar, so exciting news is still to come.

Chairman of The Mushroom Group has tried to mull over our sadness by making the official announcement.  "The decision to discontinue Future Music Festival was not made lightly," says Michael Gudinski, "A point came though where it simply no longer made sense to continue.  We believe in the festival industry in Australia and plan to announce an exciting new festival concept in the coming months."

We suppose there is a silver lining in all this. While we wait in solitude for the coming festival announcement, we remise over what we'll miss. RIP FUTURE MUSIC.
