On Tour
Night Beats to Tour East Coast
Seattle based band Night Beats is heading to Australia for the very first time for an east coast tour this September.
Music lovers are in for a treat at the year's Surry Hills Festival with the second round of music acts announced today... adding to the already stellar line up which includes Spookyland, Donny Benét, The Laurels and more
Winterbourne will be bringing their folky, stripped back welcoming of Spring to balance effervescent energy of Nic Cassey and his band and ska reggae group The Protestors - featuring members of Watussi, King Tide and Melbourne Ska Orchestra. This builds up to an appearance from a foot-stomping, hollering, high-rolling, fist-pounding and body-shaking 10-piece calling themselves The Fever Pitch. If that isn't enough, Project Collective Ska, a nine-piece band with blazing horn section will also be making a notably loud and exciting appearance.
The line up continues to expand with appearances from indie-pop, guitar wielding fellows, North Arm and Johnsong. The ladies of indie pop will then be represented in style by Larissa McKay and Nightswimming will be offering their spin on sultry soul performance.
Burn Antares will offer rock and roll, steeped in melodic waves of straight-up groove, and Ataractic will be upholding the names of all duos everywhere with their own melodic spins. The art of songwriting will be on full display as well, with singer songwriters Tommy Novak, Benjamin Bleyerveen and the ever-jazzy Sammi O'Rourke gracing the stage to perform their stripped back, elegant, craft.
The two finalists from the Surry Hills Song Competition, The Library Siesta Band and The Blazing World Revival Orchestra, will also be on stage in Shannon Reserve, performing their original work about Surry Hills, to be judged by an industry panel and the roaring response from the audience.
From Ward Park to Shannon Reserve, Crown Street to Hill Street and everything in between, get involved and join the 50,000 expected Sydneysiders for the unofficial welcoming of spring.
