Help Bleach* End With a Bang

Bleach* Festival is a three-week, high-energy, action-packed parade of live music, beach concerts, theatre, performing arts, film and fun. 

The past few weeks have seen countless musicians, artists, filmmakers, and performers grace countless venues across Queensland’s Gold Coast, celebrating all things creative. In its final weekend, you have one last chance to enjoy the 2014 festival; help Bleach* finish with a bang and head along to one of these events!


The Golden Sans Project is an exhibition paying homage to the Gold Coast’s iconic type-based signage. Presented alongside St Thomas Studio and featuring Andrew Suggit, the exhibition is open from 10am-5pm March 21-22, and from 10am-2pm March 23. Location: St Thomas Studios, 66 Thomas Drive, Chevron Island.

Urban Canvas brings you The Urban Canvas Showcase, a new event that brings you all the hidden artists and art junkies of the Gold Coast together to reminisce about creativity, art, imagination, music, fashion and culture. The event is taking place from 3-9pm on Sunday March 23, at Rabbit + Cocoon (23 Hillcrest Parade, Miami). Strictly 18+, tickets are available here

The Gold Coast Art Festival presents the third Stone Song Sculpture Symposium, an opportunity for the public to witness master sculptors displaying their expertise. The event is running until Sunday March 23, at The Arts Centre Gold Coast (235 Bundall Road, Bundall).


Bleach* Festival and Surfers for Cetaceans, in association with Saltwater Collective and Low Pressure Productions present the Queensland premiere screening of The Transparentsea Voyage – A Modern Voyage With Ancient Creatures. The screening features a live performance of the film’s songs by Band of Frequencies + special guests, and there will be artwork displayed by Howie Cooke (S4C). The event is happening on Friday March 21, 8:30pm, at Soundlounge (165 Duringan Street, Currumbin). Tickets available here

Written and directed by Mick Sowry, Saltwater Cinema #2 is a film that looks at the art of surfing in new ways, featuring a unique gathering of classical musicians and top surfers riding boards based on 300-year old Hawaiian designs. The production’s awards include Best Feature at New York Surf Film Festival, and Best Film and Best Soundtrack at the Festival de Surf, France. Presented by Saltwater Cinema, it’s being screened at Tugun Progress Hall (433 Golden Four Drive, Tugun) on Friday March 21, 7pm. Tickets available here


Bleach* Festival, Red Chair and Nadia Sunde have teamed up to present The Treasure of Captain Curlylocks, a brand new musical comedy. Combining comedy, music, puppetry and audience participation, the production is suitable for 3-8 year olds and their families. Taking place at Tugun Progress Hall (433 Golden Four Drive, Tugun), there are five performances happening over March 21-22. To see times and buy tickets, click here.


Bleach* Festival, Division 12 and City of Gold Coast are bringing you live music on the beach! Head to The Esplanade on Burleigh Beach on the afternoon of Saturday March 22 to catch Robbie Miller, GOVS, MTNS and Ash Grunwald bringing you live tunes on the ocean-rimmed Gold Coast skyline. The event is free. Set times:

Eat Street is rolling into Tugun to bring you colour, music, food and frivolity! Presented by Bleach* Festival, Division 14 and Tugun Community Bank, and featuring Taiko Drummers (5pm), Amy Shark (6:05pm), Dave Dow (7:05pm) and Barksdale Brass Band (8:10pm), prepare for an evening of relaxing and dining alongside good friends and good music. The event is happening from 5-9pm on Saturday March 22, at Toolona Street, Tugun.

Head to the ADCO Amphitheatre, Bond University (14 University Drive, Robina) to catch Bustamento for the Bond Music Series! Happening from 2-5:15pm on Sunday March 23, the full line-up for the day includes The Poetry Gallery (2pm, ongoing all afternoon), Tyus Arndt (3pm) and Bustamento (3:45pm). This event is free. 


Bleach* Festival and R&B Collective join to bring you Sunset BBQ’s #3, a backyard BBQ with words of wisdom from the masterminds contributing to Bleach*, brewmaster Brennan Fielding from Burleigh Brewing Co. and Designworks Head Design Lecturer, Drew Davies. Taking place at R&B Collective (1 West Street, Burleigh Heads), the event runs from 4-7pm on Sunday March 23. Tickets are $5 at the door.

Say goodbye to the 2014 festival at The Bleach* BBQ, happening at Palm Beach Parklands from 2-8pm on Sunday March 23. Presented by Bleach* Festival, Division 13 and City of Gold Coast, enjoy a gourmet BBQ from Dune Café chef Andy Dutton, rummage through the Suitcase Rummage, experience live in the circus at Have A Go Circus or bring along your ukulele for BYO-U.
