Rudimental Set to Headline Rockhampton's Oxford Street Party!
International dance music sensation Rudimental are set to rock Central Queensland hitting Rockhampton in December to headline the 2013 Oxford Street Party.
Perennial party purveyors Queensland Festivals and Events (QFE) have done it again with the street party’s 2013 line-up the biggest in the event’s seven year history.
Taking the stage alongside Rudimental will be double-ARIA nominated indie-dance outfit Rufus, hip-hopper Illy and festival-favourite party-starter Alison Wonderland.
QFE Managing Director Josh Jones said the event had come a long way since it began in 2007.
“It’s amazing to see how far the street party has come to now having an international act like Rudimental headlining in 2013.”
Consisting of songwriters, producers and DJs, the UK’s Rudimental burst onto the Australian music scene with their (now triple-platinum) single Feel the Love back in 2012. Since then, the band’s second single Not Giving In has gone double platinum and their debut album Home peaked at number three on the Australian charts.
Similarly, Rufus has experienced success at home in Australia with their first offering Atlas debuting at number one on the ARIA charts. The band was recognised again recently receiving two ARIA nominations for best dance release and breakthrough artist.
Fresh off the back of his largely collaborative album Bring It Back in 2012, Illy is currently hunkered down in the studio recording a follow-up album. Fans of the Aussie hip-hopper will delight at his Oxford Street Party performance which will likely feature some new material as well as old favourites such as Heard it All.
DJ Alison Wonderland will also be sure to fire up the Central Queensland crowd after spending last summer honing her skills on the decks with highly prestigious festival slots at Falls Festival, Wonderland and Southbound, and that was just one week.
QFE’s Jones said this year’s Oxford St Party featured something for everyone.
“Central Queensland’s got such a great mix of people and this line-up caters for everyone from hip-hop to dance music and back again,” Jones said.
“Rudimental and Rufus have had some massive songs this year and there’s no way they will disappoint what I’m sure will be another sell-out crowd.”
Rockhampton local five-piece La Mont will also play a set on the night.
The 2013 Oxford Street Party takes place on December 28. Tickets on sale now from oztix or at the Oxford Hotel, Rockhampton.
